Welcome to the Christ Episcopal Church -- Sei Ko Kai website!It is a privilege to be serving as pastor of this community in its 107th year. Christ Church is a welcoming, hospitable community in the Pacific Heights area of San Francisco on the outskirts of Japantown. Our congregation comes from all parts of the Bay Area, San Francisco, the Japantown region, and the local neighborhood.

Who are we?
We are a community of hospitality, welcoming all people from many walks of life, faith backgrounds, generations, and cultural heritages. As a church with open doors, we welcome all newcomers. And as an historic church, we have members whose families have been part of Christ Church for generations. Both newcomers and long-time members are actively leading and celebrating our life together.We are a faith community. We gather regularly for worship and prayer, and study and reflection on Christian scriptures and our faith tradition. In this way we seek deeper relationship with a God we believe loves all and wishes to bring abundant life to a troubled world.
We are a supportive community. As our mission statement proclaims, we have been welcoming new immigrants from Japan and their descendants for over a century. Christ Church has a long history of involvement with the experience and history of Japanese and Japanese-Americans in this country. To this end, we continue to offer language assistance and worship in Japanese for both new and long-time immigrants.
We are part of a greater community. Through our work with organizations in Japantown, greater San Francisco, and the Bay Area, we share a common vision for a community of prosperity, peace, and justice. Christ Church is affiliated with organizations such as the Japanese American Religious Federation (JARF), Soko Bukai (the Japantown fellowship of Christian churches), the Episcopal Diocese of California (including organizations such as Grace Cathedral and Episcopal Charities), the greater Episcopal Church, the Nippon Sei Ko Kai (NSKK), and the worldwide Anglican Communion.
