Tokyo Sei Juji KyokaiSei Juji Kyokai was built on this spot in 1924 in the hope of providing peace, comfort and spiritual support to those who had suffered trauma in the Great Kanto Earthquake (1923). It is characterized as being informal and friendly to the suburban community. We had a big thanksgiving celebration for our 75th anniversary in 1999. Our other special feature is our unique building. It was built in 1961 to a design by the Czech-born American architect Antonin Raymond (1888-1976). In his use of interlaced pillars, somewhat in the manner of the traditional Japanese "Gassho-zukuri" (Hands at prayer style, so called from the shape of the roof) he produced a first in Japanese architectural history, and our church is often featured in architectural magazines.

Inside the building is a set of Stations of the Cross where on penitential occasions we can follow the Way of the Cross in meditation and prayer.
